Copy Certificate Ordering Process
PLEASE NOTE: We can ONLY supply certificates for births, deaths, marriages, and civil partnerships that took place in POWYS.
If the birth or death took place elsewhere, such as a hospital in another county (Hereford, Abergavenny, Telford, etc); you will need to apply to that district for the certificate. A declaration may have been done in Powys, but we do NOT hold the records and we CANNOT issue the certificate.
Records are only held from July 1837 for Birth, Death and Marriage, and from December 2005 for Civil Partnerships.
If you wish to request an adoption or still birth certificate please refer to the General Register Office (GRO) website or contact the GRO directly on 0300 123 1837.
Certificates fees are as follows:
- Standard service £12.50 per certificate - despatched within 15 working days by Royal Mail 2nd class post.
- Priority service £38.50 per certificate - despatched next working day by Royal Mail 1st class (must be requested before 3.00 pm).
Please note that we will retain a fee of £4.00 to cover administration costs incurred if we are unable to issue the certificate you have requested.
Family History Searches
- Please note that family history searches are not subject to the statutory 15 day waiting period. Where extensive research is required an additional search fee may apply.
